Clerk's # 1 "People Person" Honored
Congratulations are in order! Mary Kay Prout, Chief Administration Officer for the Clerk & Comptroller, was awarded a top honor for what her co-workers have seen from her for ten years: Excellence in Human Resources. The annual award, presented by the South Florida Business Journal, was given to Mary Kay at an event on August 16.
While she was singled out for her skill in implementing a private-sector standard of excellence in a public organization, Mary Kay sees the award as an accolade for the entire Employee Relations Division. “So much of our achievement in building such an outstanding Clerk & Comptroller staff is the result of ideas and initiatives that come from my whole team in ER,” Mary Kay said. “This award goes to all of them, too!”
Mary Kay attributes her success to the knowledge and experience that has come with working many different types of jobs throughout her life and viewing the professional world from the eyes of an entry-level employee, a supervisor, a student and a teacher. Before coming to the Clerk’s office in 1997, Mary Kay spent time in the restaurant industry and the hotel industry, and has taught college-level courses in human resources management.
